Pathfinder draws its inspiration from the serene landscapes of the South Downs, characterized by gentle rolling hills and secluded copses. I count myself incredibly fortunate that these picturesque hills begin right at the edge of our village—an environment I’ve previously depicted with great success in ‘Green Valley Trio.’
In this evocative painting, a lone fox traverses a hill bathed in the soft glow of moonlight, its movements akin to a silent stalking. Much like in ‘Green Valley Trio,’ I’ve employed stylised textures and gestures to depict the heather-covered hillside, seamlessly blending them with the longer grasses below. Along the horizon, barren skeletal trees stand silhouetted against a clear night sky, adding to the ethereal atmosphere.
Upon closer inspection, one can discern how these same textures morph into those of the fox itself, underscoring the primal connection between animal and landscape. They are inseparable, two elements intertwined in a timeless dance. Through this work, I aim to emphasize the immutable bond that exists between nature and all its inhabitants, including ourselves.
Our Fine-Art Prints come on two kinds of archival paper. For everything up to – and including – our ‘Medium’ size, we use 210GSM Fotospeed Smooth Art; a paper that offers exceptional contrast and detail. Because our larger, more prestigious prints need to be more impactful, we use Fotospeed’s 315GSM NST. Thanks to the gentle texture and bright-white base of this 100% cotton, fine art paper, it consequently delivers a wide colour gamut. The Fine Art Trade Guild have also certified these two papers. In conjunction with our pigment-rich inks, we therefore deliver a lifetime’s worth of enjoyment!
